The difference between apostilling a document wherein it will be sent to a Hague Country and a document destined to be used in a Non-Hague country is that when it will be used in a Non-Hague Country, it falls under the category of Embassy Legalization.
An Apostille (pronounced “ah-po-steel”) is a French word meaning certification.
An Apostille is simply a specialized certificate, issued by the Secretary of State. The Apostille is attached to your original document allowing the use of the document in a foreign country.
Apostille: Getting a document apostilled will make your document(s) valid only in countries that joined The Hague Convention in 1961. The process is to send the document(s) to the Secretary of State where they originated. This is often referred to as state-level authentication.
Legalization (Authentication): Getting a document legalized or authenticated will make your document(s) valid in countries that did not join The Hague Convention. There is an additional step in the process where the document(s) must go to the department of state in Washington DC before it's presented to the Embassy.

Our notaries at Laucer Mobile Notary will accurately complete all necessary notarizations required in compliance with state regulations. This service is included when we process your Apostilles/Legalizations.
If the document is to be used in a Non-Hague country, a more complex process for legalization is required. In those cases, after first being authenticated by the specific Department of State, the documents will require further processing at the federal level and/or may need to be presented to consulates and/or embassies.
There are also situations where translation is required and we have a staff of “certified translators” who can assist you. As the legalization process varies from country to country, the time and cost of obtaining an authentication can differ. Please contact us at 646) 589-1540 for information and a quote. If out of the country please use WHAT’S APP.
The most common reasons why an Apostille is rejected are:
